Abhyanga: Is a form of Ayurvedic massage that helps bring the body back to balance, it is done with warm oil. The oil is applied on the entire body, from the scalp to the soles of your feet. The oil is the main component of this massage and when combined with rhythmical strokes and aromatic oil influences the autonomic nervous system.
Another benefit of abhyanga is better flexibility. decrease stiffness and increase mobility by loosening shortened, tight muscles. Promotes lymphatic drainage and relaxes the body.
Abhyanga uses oils depending on your “dosha,” or body type, there are three doshas that determine which oils you need to use to balance.
Vata: Heavy oils like almond, sesame, or avocado oil. Pitta: A neutral oil like ghee or sunflower oil. Kapha: A light oil, such as safflower, sweet almond, or flaxseed oil.
